I'm friends with Alistair. He told me about Maric, and asked me if I could prod at my contacts in the region to see if any new information can be found.

[ She folds her hands neatly, expression somber. ]

So far, I haven't found anything I would put my faith in. Whispers of whispers of a possible lead, someone's second cousin once said something while drunk, etc.

But that's...better than nothing.

[He stills some at Maric's name, more transparent in his responses than he would ever prefer to admit. But when she confesses to the lack of actionable intelligence, he grimaces and nods; he's grateful, but truthfully had not expected much else.]

I thank you for your efforts, [he tells her and meets her eyes, hoping the look alone will be enough to convey his sincerity.] We've come across... something, I suppose. [He doesn't look unsure, exactly, but rather like he hasn't had opportunity enough to discuss with Alistair and Nate what should be done with the information they gleaned in Nevarra.]

[ That's interesting--what did they come across that she couldn't? Plenty, probably. It's not like she's Leliana, and even the spymaster isn't omniscient. ]

I'm glad. I'll keep my ear to the ground in the meantime, and see if there's anything more I can dig up. It's not a lot, but...If I can promise anything, it's that I'll everything I can for Alistair. [ There's a determined look in her eye when she says it. If Alistair has inherited anything from Maric, it's the ability to command the loyalty of small elf ladies. ]

I'm sure that the truth will come to light. Surely, it's not that easy to hide a king.
